My Aspirations for January 2018


Hi guys,

How are we today? Hopefully you checked out yesterdays post? Thanks if you did and if you didnt, then what the hell are you waiting for? Go on, scoot over there and this post will be waiting for you when you come back.

Guys, I was not ready for today at all. In Scotland it is normally a bank holiday today but as its month end and year end we decided to go into work a day early and get as much done today as possible. I know, we are good staff! We were well and truly flung into the deep end though. For those not in the know, I am a trainee accountant and January is a hell of a month. Its month end as well as year end so we are up to our eye balls at work. Thank God for good workmates eh? It was nice getting back into a routine and seeing all my wee pals after a long time off but it got me thinking about the month in front and what I wanted to do to better myself.

I have done the obligatory clear out including my house, phone, laptop etc but I wanted to do some different things this month to kick start the year. I wasnt planning on putting together a "goal" post on this blog as I find them really irritating and also, they make you feel like shit if you dont complete them but then I thought fuck it! Why not.


1. Dry January
This isnt a new aspiration at all, I do it every year, but sometimes I fall off the wagon if Liam is home (you know how it is!) but this month I will be sober. Christmas and New Years are always full on and I dont know about you but I feel as though December is a free for all when it comes to eating and drinking so its nice to have a detox month to make myself feel better.

2. Photo Albums
I love photo albums. I used to rummage through my mums and also my grandparents as well as any of my family if we stayed over so I wanted to make a few for our house to keep all our memories safe. I picked up some plain scrap books from amazon as well as some metallic pens and printed off a load of pictures using the Snapfish app as they are offering 25 free prints each month as long as you pay the delivery. I cant wait to get my first shipment in and start filling in my books.

3. Diary
I bought myself a diary. This is something I never do. I havent kept a diary since I was 15 and that was a period diary to keep note of symptoms but I wanted one this year to write down any inspirations, memories, reminders etc. I will probably forget all about it but I thought I would try anyway.


Note: I know everyone and their mother is on this body positive movement and I have all the feels for people who truly feel positive in themselves at whatever size they may be but I dont so I have included the next three things to help me get to a comfortable place in my life where I can walk up a flight of stairs and not feel like I am going to faint or stop breathing. So please dont judge and assume I am trying to be miss skinny, I am trying to be miss healthy.

4. Eating Well
It wouldnt be January without this would it? As you know I have been doing Slimming World since July and I have already lost 2 stone so I will almost definitely be keeping this up. I feel as though I have stagnated a little so I will probably start going back to the classes for some inspirations. January 1st was on plan so if I think of this in little month goals, then I can keep to it rather than setting unrealistic goals for myself.

5. Gym Membership
As with eating better, I am finally getting my gym membership back. After having surgery in July I was a little wary of going back to the gym and before I knew it, it was December and I had let 6 months go by without stepping foot in the gym again. Its always a chore going to the gym but once you are there its great. I cant wait to get back and start my cycling again and hopefully further my weight loss.

6. Walking
If you follow me on IG then you may have noticed a few beautiful pictures from weekends where my sister and I have been walking. I fully intend to keep this up and have already made plans for next Saturday and Sunday to go back to New Lanark as that was my favourite and then maybe back to Pollok Park as I love that trail.

7. Blog
You may have noticed that I only posted two blog posts last year and that is simply because I was busy and then I didnt really want to blog for the second half due to everything else going on in my life but I am going to make a conscience effort to try and blog every couple of days and bring my blog back up to where it used to be.

So, there we have it. A few easy aspirations for January. I will honestly see how long that diary one lasts right enough, its the only thing I have an issue with as I know I wont remember but everything else is gold. What are your aspirations this month?   1. I really like that idea of doing a "dry January" with no alcohol and just trying to detox your life. I think I'll do that this month too, and join you! Along with eating healthier and detoxing, something that I've noticed helps me feel better, physically, is by drinking something hot (usually tea) when I eat a meal, which helps with my digestion. I've also learned that my body responds really well to yogurt in the morning and omega-3 fatty acids! I hope you'll stick to your aspirations! I wrote a few of my intentions over on my blog in my most recent post.

    1. I love a wee detox in January, does me the world of good. Glad you are joining me!

      Ive started drinking a hot drink wth my meals and it does actually help with digestion. I always used to drink water but it always hurt my stomach after I ate, now I know it was probably the temperature of it.

      I will stick to mine if you stick to yours haha. Brill post btw Kyia! Xx
